About Me

I'm the publisher and editor of Canada’s Local Gardener, a national magazine that celebrates the passion and creativity of gardeners across this country. I've worked in publishing for more than 17 years, combining a love of storytelling with a deep interest in horticulture. My work focuses on engaging readers, growing digital communities, and encouraging sustainable, locally informed gardening.

In addition to the magazine, I write a weekly newsletter for gardeners called 10 Neat Things. Each week I take a deep dive into a topic, looking for the most interesting or astonishing things about it.

Whether I’m planning a new issue, developing content for our website, or dreaming up new tools like our upcoming gardening chatbot, I’m always looking for ways to connect people through plants.

I also write for other publications, often exploring timely and sometimes controversial topics. In particular, my mother and I write a regular column for her monthly paper, Manitoba Lifestyles 55, called "Dobbie vs Dobbie", where we share our dinner-table... discussions... with the wider public!

You can check out work from the magazine at localgardener.net.

And you can subscribe to the newsletter too!
